The animation studio ufotable announced at an event in Japan that the series Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight! will soon receive a new manga adaptation. The studio and Tartan check debuted the first manga series in ASCII Media Works' Monthly and Comic Dengeki Daioh magazines in 2005.
The first manga, published in 2005, spawned a 12-episode anime series in 2007. The story takes place in the year 2035, where schools have suffered from a low birth rate, resulting in the closure of many. A highly extroverted girl named Amamiya Manami transfers to a new school where she easily becomes the student council president and begins to bring some vibrancy back into the lives of the female students.
