Naruto: The Best Anime for Brazilians?!

First, you've almost certainly noticed that Naruto's work remains prominent even today, whether through its participation in games/events, social media, or even by topping streaming charts here in Brazil. Moreover, all this prominence comes mainly from Naruto Classic and Shippuden, showing that even though it ended a few years ago, it's still successful.

On the other hand, works like Dragon Ball, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and even Saint Seiya, which were also very successful in Brazil around the 90s and 2000s, no longer have the same prominence they once did. Thus, it could be said that even the Naruto series has taken all the success for itself!

Those of you who are older, like me, already know that back in the day we didn't watch anime on computers like we do today. So, for Japanese works to be successful, they had to be broadcast on free-to-air television. And that's how many works became established in Brazil, becoming a huge success.

In the case of Naruto, it's worth remembering that it arrived in our territory in 2007 via Cartoon Network. So, even though it came a little later than other works, its success continues to this day. Furthermore, after all the success on Cartoon Network, the series went to the open TV channel SBT, where it was a real hit. Not to mention that during the same period, Panini Comics began publishing the manga here, and with that, its success grew astronomically.

Thus, in a short time the work was already on the shelves of various stores, whether through printed t-shirts or items such as bandanas and kunai. Not to mention that the game franchise based on the anime also exploded in an unexpected way, where the Naruto Ultimate Ninja series of games stands out.

However, our ninjas faced considerable difficulties with the broadcasters. They re-aired several episodes due to a lack of material, driving fans crazy. Furthermore, SBT didn't even manage to show all the content from the first season of the anime, while Cartoon Network dedicated a bit more time to it.

After several hit shows that exploded in viewership across all channels, from Band and SBT to even Globo, over time they were forced to remove our beloved anime from their screens. This happened primarily for two reasons: the first is due to the violence that some of these major works depicted, making them unsuitable for morning broadcasts and risking legal action against the channels.

The second main reason why we are no longer seeing these shows on broadcast television is a simple matter of market. All channels have preferred to opt for alternative entertainment programs to boost sales and better control the market, since it is much easier to advertise with famous people than with fictional characters.

Finally, it's worth highlighting that even after all this, classic works still hold a place in the hearts of young people. Especially Naruto, which can be said to be part of Brazilian culture and is present everywhere you look. Anyway, that was our special post of the day, I hope you enjoyed it, leave a comment and see you next time!
