Fox has hired Danny Cannon to produce the Gotham . Danny directed Judge Dredd (1995) and several episodes of CSI, and will now direct the pilot episode .
The show will depict the detective rising through the ranks of the Gotham police force and may bring several classic Dark Knight villains to television. The first case to be investigated by the protagonist will apparently be the death of Bruce Wayne's parents. Filming of the pilot is scheduled for March 2014.
The series will be produced by Warner Bros. TV and written by Bruno Heller , of The Mentalist fame.
The series has already been renewed for a first season, although a release date and cast have not yet been announced.
