In an interview with K Manga , Kodansha's reading app, Isayama shared some interesting facts about his work process. He then explained how he created his characters, his monthly work schedule, and how he planned the ending of his manga.
"I thought about this plot from the beginning. Of course, not in great detail, but I thought about the general flow.
At first, it was very likely that the story would end in two volumes. I was so desperate to know if the serialization would continue. After it gained some popularity, I considered the desperate ending. I had this story in mind initially, but I started to question that direction.
Synopsis:
Humans encountered Titans in Shiganshina District after years of peace. However, Eren, Mikasa, and Armin witnessed the appearance of the Colossal Titan and the Armored Titan, which breached Wall Maria. The Titans invaded the city and wreaked havoc, killing several people, including Eren's mother, who was devoured before her son's eyes. Eren then decided to take revenge on all the Titans by joining the Survey Corps.
Therefore, Hajime Isayama launched the manga in Bessatsu Shounen Magazine , published by Kodansha in 2009, ending in April 2021. The 34th and final volume was published in June 2021.
