The official website Sword Art Online II anime announced this week that the series will premiere on July 5th . According to the website, the premiere will also take place at several events , including in the United States , France, Germany, Hong Kong, Taiwan , Korea, and Japan .
In the United States, the event showcasing the anime will be Anime Expo in Los Angeles scheduled for July 4th . The official authors of the light novel , Reki Kawahara , and illustrator and character designer ABEC will also be present at the event .
The premiere in Japan will be on Tokyo, MX TV on July 5th at 11:30 . Yoshitsugu Matsuoka will reprise his role as Kirito, the protagonist of the first season of the anime .
