The second Sailor Moon Eternal film premiered in Japan this Thursday, and something that caught everyone's attention was the fact that the film ends with the famous phrase “To be continued”, which means “Continues”.
Oricon was held on stage on the day of the film's premiere, during which Kotono Mitsuishi (voice actress for the character Usagi Tsukino / Sailor Moon) was asked about the phrase in the teaser. She highlighted that the manga has another arc after the “fourth season” which was adapted by the two current films. She added that: “If there is a sequel, I would like it to happen as soon as possible.”
The first film was originally scheduled to open in Japan on September 11, 2020, but was postponed to January 8, 2021 due to the spread of COVID-19 in Japan. The first Sailor Moon Eternal film took 9th place at the box office.
Both films released mark 25 years since the franchise last had a work shown in Japanese cinemas.
