The highly anticipated live-action adaptation of Naruto has begun to take shape. Director Destin Daniel Cretton revealed the first details about the story's approach, indicating that the film will prioritize the protagonist's origins and his journey as an outcast youth seeking recognition.

According to Cretton, the intention is to preserve the essence created by Masashi Kishimoto, even with necessary adaptations for the cinematic format. The project has the approval of the author himself, while the production is conducting a worldwide audition to find the actors to play Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha , and Sakura Haruno. Filming is expected to begin later this year, but the release date remains officially unknown.

The director's statements indicate that the film should adapt the first chapters of the manga, especially the Land of Waves.
