Attack on Titan – Controversial image sparks complaints among fans

My name is Rafael Alves, known as Shinzo. I created the AnimeNew website in 2009 to offer news about anime, manga, and games directly from Japan.

The editorial staff of Bessatsu Shonen Magazine released an image of author Hajime Isayama for the cover of the latest issue. That said, Isayama drew an illustration from his franchise, Shingeki no Kyojin ( Attack on Titan ), in celebration of the anime.

This post contains spoilers for the ending of the Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan) manga.

However, the image caught the attention of fans on social media because the author did not explain why "Eren Yeager is holding his own head," given that the character meets his tragic end at the hands of Mikasa at the end of the manga.

Fans, in turn, found the image strange, and also criticized the author for forgetting other important characters in the picture:

  • Isayama made it clear that all of Attack on Titan is a movie.
  • The visuals are excellent; Isayama portrayed the anime's actors spectacularly and included the art team's work with the sculpting of Eren's head held by the actor who brings him to life.
  • It looks like fan-art from some random artist
  • Where is my dear Floch?
  • This is what it would look like behind the scenes, Great Hajime Isayama
  • I hope that in the end everything will come together like this, saying that it was all a joke.
  • Why are there two Erens?
  • Eren smiled, holding his own severed, legally cut head.
  • Who are all these people? I think only the author recognizes them
  • How on earth does Isayama even think about showing something like that? It's a huge spoiler just a few weeks before the end of the season. I don't understand how this guy's mind works
  • It looks like a drawing made by AI

The highly anticipated conclusion of the anime Shingeki no Kyojin ( Shingeki no Kyojin: Final Season Part 3 ) is scheduled to premiere on March 3rd. However, the first part of this final season will receive a 1-hour special on Japanese television.

The anime Attack on Titan: The Final Season premiered on NHK in December 2020, airing a total of 16 episodes. Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 2 premiered with episode 76 on NHK General on January 9th, totaling 12 episodes. Like all the previous seasons, it was animated by MAPPA.

Synopsis

Humans encountered Titans in the Shiganshina district after years of peace. Eren, Mikasa, and Armin witnessed the appearance of the Colossal Titan and the Armored Titan, who breached Wall Maria. Finally, Hajime Isayama launched the manga in Bessatsu Shounen Magazine's Kodansha in 2009, finishing it in April 2021. Furthermore, the 34th and final volume was published in June 2021.
