A new anime adaptation based on the light novel " Mahoka koko no Rettosei " (The Irregular at Magic School) was announced this Sunday at the Dengeki Bunko Festival 2013. Director Manabu Ono (Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere, Saki Episode of Side A) will direct, and studio MADHOUSE will handle the entire animation project.

The story takes place in a world where magic isn't a fairy tale. In the spring, the Magic Academy affiliated with the Private Magic University announces the names of its two best students, "Bloom" and her substitute, "Weed."
Twin siblings Miyuki and Tatsuya Shiba are chosen as Bloom and Weed, respectively. Miyuki receives the title Bloom because of her incredible grades, while Tatsuya receives the title Weed because of his incredibly low grades. From the moment the two siblings enter the elite school, the peaceful days of the establishment will turn into chaos.
