The animated film A New Dawn ( Hanarokushou ga Akeru Hi ni ) achieved a remarkable feat by being selected for the competitive section of the Berlin International Film Festival , one of the three largest film festivals in the world. Yoshitoshi Shinomiya 's debut as director of an animated feature film. Furthermore, the recognition is noteworthy for a rare reason: a Japanese film directed by a newcomer returning to the main competition after more than 30 years. Shinomiya also wrote the screenplay and designed the artwork for the film.
Meanwhile, the main cast includes Riku Hagiwara and Kotone Furukawa , who celebrated the international selection and highlighted the creative care of the team involved.
Finally, the anime will premiere in Japanese theaters on March 6, 2026. The story follows Keitaro, a young man raised in a traditional fireworks shop, who tries to complete a legendary show before the place is demolished.
