Japanese publisher King Amusement Creative has confirmed that the manga A Pen, Handcuffs, and a Common-Law Marriage ( Pen to Wappa to Jijitsu Kon ) will be adapted into an anime . The work is written by Shinichi Sawaragi and illustrated by Tanku Gasuyama .

A Pen, Handcuffs, and a Common-Law Marriage is a mystery manga with elements of police drama. The narrative stands out by exploring the investigation through visual clues created by the young Tsugumi , which demands careful interpretation from the protagonist.

The most intriguing detail emerges when one of the girl's drawings contains an unexpected message: a marriage proposal. However, this moment raises questions about the connection between the characters and adds a different layer to the investigative plot.

Synopsis

The story follows Eiji Kirisame, a 40-year-old detective who encounters an unusual witness. Tsugumi Kuchinashi is a high school student who doesn't speak and communicates only through drawings. Even so, her illustrations may hold important clues about the crime.

The manga began publication in December 2022 in Hakusensha magazine, specifically in Young Animal . Currently, the work has over 400,000 copies in circulation, with the seventh volume scheduled for release in April.

Furthermore, Yen Press licensed the work for the West and released the first volume in English in March of this year, expanding the series' reach beyond Japan.
