Nintendo has announced that the third generation of Pokémon, the Ruby and Sapphire will receive a reboot.

The adventure set in the Hoenn region was released in 2003 and will now receive a fully updated version for the Nintendo 3DS handheld console under the names Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire . The games will be released starting in November of this year.

The original game was released for the Game Boy Advance . These are the first games of the third generation of Pokémon, better known as the Advance generation. They introduced 135 new Pokémon, bringing the total to 386. They were not compatible with any previous games, but only offered 201 obtainable Pokémon. This was understood when Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, Pokémon Colosseum, and Pokémon XD were released, as these allowed all 386 Pokémon to be obtained. As they were the first games of the Advance generation, they generated much speculation and, upon release, were the best-selling games in Japan in 2002.
