News about the highly anticipated live-action film adaptation of Akira has resurfaced in full force.
The renowned website Deadline announced that the studio has just signed a contract with screenwriter Dante Harper to write the script for the film. Harper is behind the story of Edge of Tomorrow, starring Tom Cruise, a film based on All You Need Is Kill by author Hiroshi Sakurazaka.
The live-action Akira film is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who has already warned that the film will not be faithful to the original work. Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Davisson Killoran, and Andrew Lazar are producing. Katsuhiro Otomo serves as executive producer.
