The website IGN reported that Sony Pictures and the Japanese studio Lucent Pictures Entertainment (Kill la Kill, Berserk: The Golden Age Arc) are working on Appleseed Alpha, a new CG-animated film by author Masamune Shirow, the same author of "Ghost in the Shell".
Shinji Aramaki is returning to direct this new project; he was responsible for major films such as: “Starship Troopers: Invasion”, “Captain Harlock”, “Appleseed”, and “Appleseed: Ex Machina”.
The film still has no set release date. Titled "Alpha," the new film will be a reboot showing the two characters Deunan and Briareos searching for the legendary lost city of Olympus.
