The long-awaited live-action version of the famous Titans series has received new production details. The director will be Shinji Higuchi , who was the storyboard artist for Neon Genesis Evangelion Gamera films in the 1990s. Yusuke Watanabe (Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods) is writing the script. Everything indicates a 2015 release. Filming is expected to begin in summer 2014, and the actors for the film have not yet been hired.
Launched in 2009, the Attack on Titan manga currently has 25 million copies sold . The story gained an anime adaptation with 25 episodes that was released this year in April.
The original story revolves around young Eren Yeager, his adoptive sister Mikasa Ackerman, and their friend Armin Arlert, who live in a world where the remnants of the human population live within cities surrounded by huge walls due to the appearance of Titans, giant humanoid creatures that devour human beings seemingly without reason.
