Author Nami Sano of “Sakamoto desu ga?” passed away at age 36

The official Twitter account of Kadokawa 's Harta revealed this Wednesday (16) that author Nami Sano passed away on August 5 due to cancer. Sano's relatives held a funeral on August 7 and 8. She was 36 years old.

The statement noted that Sano passed away just a month after his cancer diagnosis and that he was in the planning stages of a new manga while battling the disease. Harta editors shared an excerpt from Sano's latest letter, which reads: “This turned out to be a fun life. Now I'm going to a freer world. Goodbye."

So “Sakamoto desu ga?” it was Sano's debut series. She launched the series on Harta in 2011 and ended it in December 2015. The manga inspired an anime that premiered in April 2016.

Furthermore, Sano launched the manga “Migi & Dali” in Harta in July 2017 and ended it in November 2021. Finally, the seventh and final volume of the manga launched in December 2021. The manga is inspiring an anime that will debut in October.
