The live-action adaptation of Baby Steps has had its first trailer released by Amazon. Based on the sports manga by Hikaru Katsuki , the series premieres on July 22nd and focuses on a school drama mixed with the competitive world of tennis.

Main cast of the Baby Steps series

Actor Kodai Matsuoka, known for his roles in productions inspired by Naruto and Prince of Tennis, will play the protagonist Eiichiro Maruo. Kiwa will take on the role of Natsu Takasaki, while Shota Matsushima will play Takuma Egawa in the adaptation.

Production focuses on sports drama

The project will be directed by Kazuyuki Iwata, who previously worked on Mei-chan no Shitsuji. The original Baby Steps manga was known for its focus on technical aspects of tennis matches and the gradual development of the main character throughout the story.

Furthermore, the casting choices reinforce the intention to faithfully adapt the school and sports atmosphere of the work. For those who follow recent Japanese adaptations, the project emerges as yet another Amazon venture into its catalog of productions based on manga.
