Itagaki-sensei 's manga has been published by Akita Shoten in Weekly Shonen Champion since September 2016, with 19 volumes to date.
Synopsis
The story takes place in a world with civilized and completely anthropomorphic animals with a cultural debt between carnivores and herbivores. Legosi, a large gray wolf, is a shy and quiet student at Cherryton High School, where he lives in a dormitory with many other carnivorous students, including his outgoing Labrador friend, Jack. As one of the members of the school's drama club, Legosi works as a stagehand and helps the actors in the club headed by celebrity actor Louis, a red deer. Unexpectedly, Tem, the alpaca, is brutally murdered and devoured in the night, spreading a wave of discomfort and distrust among the carnivore and herbivore students. At the same time, Legosi has a fateful encounter with Haru, a cute bunny, and begins to develop feelings for her.
The anime was directed by Shinichi Matsumi at studio Orange and licensed by Netflix, with a script by Nanami Higuchi and music by Satoru Kosaki. The first season of Beastars aired in October 2019 with 12 episodes.
