Approaching its 10th anniversary, Black Clover Yūki Tabata 's manga is in its final arc, but interestingly, the author still doesn't have a definitive ending for the story.

This approach is reminiscent of the path taken by Akira Toriyama in Dragon Ball , which continued far beyond what was planned due to its enormous success.

Like Toriyama , Tabata has some ideas on how to conclude Asta's storyline, but not a finalized script. This may seem surprising, given that the work has been published for a decade, but it's a strategy that worked for Dragon Ball. The classic manga gained iconic elements precisely because of its author's creative freedom, such as Gohan's temporary prominence as the protagonist.

Since its debut in 2015 in Weekly Shonen Jump , Black Clover has maintained a loyal fanbase. The anime, while popular, took a break after catching up with the manga, avoiding divergences like those seen in Shaman King and Fullmetal Alchemist . Now, with the manga free from the pressures of the anime, Tabata can explore new possibilities without being tied to a rushed ending.

Recently, it was announced that the Black Clover anime will follow a "cour" format, similar to Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War , allowing for more faithful adaptations. Meanwhile, the manga continues to surprise, showing that the lack of a defined plan can be a creative asset.
