For fans to celebrate! With the completion of the first season, the anime Blue Box (Ao no Hako) had its 2nd season announced this Thursday (27). The series premiered on October 3, 2024, in Japan. Netflix also streams the series.

  • Original manga: Kōji Miura (Weekly Shonen Jump, Shueisha)
  • Animation studio: Telecom Animation Film (Nagatoro-san, Tower of God)
  • Anime director: Yuichiro Yano
  • Composition: Yuko Kakihara
  • Character designer: Miho Tanino

Synopsis of Blue Box:

Taiki plays badminton and likes Chinatsu, who plays basketball. Although they both train together every morning, one spring day their relationship takes an unexpected turn. Chinatsu ends up moving in with Taiki, who decides to take the opportunity to work even harder at sports and create a bond with his new housemate and romantic interest.

Therefore, Miura originally began drawing the manga as a one-shot in Weekly Shounen Jump in August 2020. The manga began serialization in the magazine in April 2021, with its chapters collected into 16 tankōbon volumes in August 2024. However, Shueisha also simultaneously publishes the series in English for free on the Manga Plus app and website.

Finally, in February 2022, Viz Media announced that it had licensed the series for print; the first volume was released on November 1 of the same year.
