Blue Exorcist – Author contracts COVID-19 and manga will take a break

The official Twitter account for Kazue Katō 's “Blue Exorcist” announced that the work will take a month-long break while the author recovers from COVID-19.

The manga will return in the December issue of Jump SQ magazine. by Shueisha.

Synopsis

Raised by Father Fujimoto, a famous exorcist, Rin Okumura never knew his real father. One day, a fateful argument with Father Fujimoto forces Rin to face a terrible truth: the blood of the Lord of Demons, Satan, runs through his veins! Rin vows to defeat Satan, but doing so means joining the mysterious True Cross Academy and becoming an exorcist. Can Rin fight demons and keep her hellish bloodline a secret? It won't be easy, especially when wielding his father's sword unleashes the demonic power within him!

Katō launched the manga in Jump SQ. in 2009. The manga went on hiatus in July 2021 and returned in May 2022. The series also went on hiatus in January and returned in May 2023. The 29th volume of the manga was released on July 4.
