This Sunday (the 20th), the new Boruto manga made its debut and revealed the current state of Konoha after the time skip. While Naruto is trapped in Kawaki's dimension, all the villagers still believe that the 7th Hokage was assassinated by Boruto. During Naruto's absence, Shikamaru was chosen as the 8th Hokage. Furthermore, it seems he has been in the Hokage position for over a year, as no one remembers the truth about Boruto and Kawaki, except for Sarada and Sumire.
Synopsis:
Boruto: Naruto Next Generation is the sequel to the acclaimed Naruto story, featuring Boruto Uzumaki, son of the Seventh Hokage of the Leaf Village, Naruto Uzumaki. The new protagonist harbors resentment towards his father for always prioritizing the village over his family. However, despite his father's annoyances, Boruto decides to follow the path of a ninja. He joins the team led by Konohamaru, Naruto's former disciple, along with Sarada Uchiha, daughter of Sakura and Sasuke, and Mitsuki, son of Orochimaru. The new Team 7 embarks on various missions until they cross paths with Kawaki, the mysterious boy connected to Boruto's future.
Ukyo Kodachi and Mikio Ikemoto launched the Boruto manga in May 2016 in Weekly Shonen Jump, where it was published monthly. The manga then moved to Shueisha's V Jump magazine in July 2019. Masashi Kishimoto took over the project as the manga's writer in November 2020.
Finally, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations also got an anime in April 2017, but went on hiatus in March 2023 to prepare for the second phase of the story.
