Monster Hunter Frontier-G has been a huge success on the Wii U , Xbox 360 , and PS3 in Japan, having sold over 3 million copies. While the game hasn't yet achieved worldwide commercial success, it's intriguing to consider what it would be like to transform Monster Hunter into an MMORPG with a monthly subscription fee.

For many Monster Hunter fans, this transformation isn't hard to imagine. Unfortunately, there's never been any hint of a release outside of Japan, but this week, in an internal interview, Capcom offered a glimmer of hope that Western territories might be on the cards for a possible release.

The website Siliconera, translated an interview with Yoshinorio Ono from Capcom about the “Monster Hunter MMORPG”

The 'G' in Monster Hunter's title indicates that it's compatible across multiple platforms, including PS3, Wii U, Xbox 360, and PC. We're also planning to expand to PS Vita.
The main reason we've increased cross-platform connectivity is because we have our sights set on distribution outside of Japan in the future. We can't simply release a game as is; we need to adapt all the necessary services to the unique characteristics of each region. And to prepare for this, we've expanded our reach by releasing on several different platforms.

Monster Hunter Frontier G is actually an expansion to Monster Hunter Frontier Online, which was originally released for PC in 2007 and then for Xbox 360 in 2010.

Keep in mind that this same challenge is being addressed with Skyrim, which is already in beta testing. I personally find this transition from a game to an MMORPG quite challenging. This transition often loses many of the game's characteristics, and the biggest challenge is to present something new and unique, not only to fans but also to new players. I hope Capcom carefully addresses these details, which in an MMORPG make all the difference between success and failure.

Hey guys, would you like a Monster Hunter-based MMORPG with a monthly subscription? To give you some food for thought, I'll leave below the EPIC trailer that accompanied the announcement of Monster Hunter Frontier G's release on PS3 and Wii U last year.
