The first episode of the anime Chainsaw Man was a ratings success in Japan, as well as on streaming. Besides the impeccable animation, the CGI (Computer Graphic Imagery) was a hot topic of debate among fans and otakus of the anime, to the point of debating which scenes are and which aren't 3D animation.

Therefore, Sakuga Brasil commented that " 2D animators who draw over CGI and 3D animators who animate over 2D makes for a difficult job. Sometimes scenes that we thought were done in CGI were actually done in 2D ."
Fans commented on the episode's animation:
- @StonksDr69 – For me at least it’s mainly the head that has a lot of details
- @Sr_Borrach0 – They warned us it would be revolutionary, but the paradigm shift has already begun.
- @AbsolutoMrr – It looked like a PlayStation 3 game, man
- @mateus_nst – The CG was very blended. I didn't mind
- @JoaovitorJvl699 – I don't think it's bad, I think the problem is that the CGI tries to pass itself off as 2D when to more attentive eyes the difference is clear and causes strangeness, the issue is that the majority of people can't perceive the difference, which in this sense ends up being good.
- @HectorThePain – But according to some random Twitter users this CGI is shit, they are the ones who understand the subject for sure
- @Clyde_kun – The CGI is screaming, it's even weird. They're trying too hard.
The series premiered on October 11th with animation by studio MAPPA (Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaizen).
