Chainsaw Man – MAPPA CEO confirms anime success

According to Weekly Toyo Keizai , the CEO says the studio invested heavily in the Chainsaw Man adaptation and what the profits were from that investment. He says that Blu-ray sales weren't that great, but the anime generated a lot of attention for Studio MAPPA.
“We had never attracted so much public attention before launching a work into the world. We are a young company, so we struggled to cope with this pressure and deliver our best performance. It was a good learning experience for me to experience detailed procedures for rights, licensing, product planning, and other tasks that were conventionally handled by the production committee.”.
Some series sell many DVD and Blu-ray bundles, while others are distributed to a large number of viewers (via streaming). Frankly, I wish this series had reached the audience that pays for the bundles. We hope to explore how to approach the target audience that will pay for the work.”
Synopsis:
The story takes place in a world where demons are born from human fears. Although generally dangerous and malevolent, humans can make contracts with demons to use a portion of their power. Denji is a depressed young man trying to pay off his deceased father's debt to the yakuza by selling several of his organs and working as a demon hunter. But Denji also possesses a dog-like demon named Pochita, which resembles a chainsaw and assists Denji in his work.
Therefore, Fujimoto launched the manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in December 2018, finishing the first arc in December 2020 with 11 volumes.
