The first episode of the Chainsaw Man was a hit with audiences in Japan, as well as on streaming. In addition to the impeccable animation work, CGI (Computer Graphic Imagery) was one of the biggest topics debated among anime fans and otakus, to the point of finding out which scene is or is not 3D animation.

Therefore, Sakuga Brasil comments that “ 2D animators who draw over CGI and 3D animators who animate over 2D, make it a difficult job. Scenes that we thought were made in CGI were actually made in 2D .”
Fans commented on the episode's animation:
- @StonksDr69 – For me at least it's mainly the head which has a lot of details
- @Sr_Borrach0 – They warned that it would be revolutionary, the paradigm shift has already begun
- @AbsolutoMrr – It looked like a play 3 game man
- @mateus_nst – The CG was well blended. I didn't bother
- @JoaovitorJvl699 – I don't think it's bad, I think the problem is that the CGI tries to pass itself off as 2D when for a closer look the difference is clear and causing strangeness, the issue is that the majority of people can't perceive the difference, which in that sense ends up being good.
- @HectorThePain – But according to some random Twitter users this CGI is shit, they know the subject for sure
- @Clyde_kun – The CGI is screaming, it even looks weird. They are pushing too hard
The series premiered on October 11th with animation from studio MAPPA (Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaizen).
