The anime Chainsmoker Cat (Yani Neko) has revealed its main trailer and confirmed new details about the production. In addition to new scenes from the adaptation, the video highlights the opening theme song "Nanmonee," performed by the band Wasureranneyo. The ending theme will be performed by the band Necry Talkie with the song "Kemuri to Blue."
The series premieres on July 2nd on Tokyo MX and BS11 channels, airing in the early morning hours of July 3rd, Japanese time. Later, the anime will also arrive on the AT-X channel on July 25th. The production adapts the comedy manga created by Nyan Nyan Factory, currently serialized in Kodansha's Young Magazine.
New names on the production team

Among the announced professionals are Yukiko Maruyama and Shotaro Yoshino in art direction, Yuiha Ota in color design, and Hisashi Yonezawa as director of photography. Editing will be handled by Mutsumi Takemiya, while Takatoshi Hamano will be in charge of sound direction, with production by Magic Capsule.
On the creative side, Taku Kimura is directing the project at Bibury Animation Studio. The script is by Takashi Aoshima, known for several popular anime comedies. Character design is the responsibility of Riki Matsuura.
A comedy about a troubled kitten
The story follows Yani, a catgirl with a very unhealthy habit: compulsive smoking. Her apartment is always littered with cigarette butts and accumulated trash. Whenever she tries to quit, she quickly succumbs to the urge to smoke again.
The manga already has 12 volumes published in Japan and continues to be published by Kodansha. Meanwhile, the TV adaptation is preparing to introduce this curious comedy to audiences in the summer season of 2026.
