The manga Yani Neko (Chainsmoker Cat), created by Nyannyan Factory, will be adapted into anime for Japanese television. The series will premiere in July 2026, with broadcast confirmed on TOKYO MX and other channels.

Published in Young Magazine, the title Yani Neko (Chainsmoker Cat) follows the far from exemplary daily life of Yani Neko, a lazy, cigarette-addicted, and completely unfiltered beast-man. Meanwhile, humans and beastmen share the same space, creating absurd situations and humor that is far from the norm.

Currently, the manga has 10 published volumes, and volume 11 will be released in Japanese stores on February 6th. Therefore, the anime comes at a strategic moment in the story.

Furthermore, the announcement came with a visual teaser and a teaser trailer. In the material, Yani Neko appears calmly smoking on the balcony of her apartment. In the video, the highlight is her decadent routine and the striking phrase "umeê nya," which reinforces the irreverent tone of the series.

The voice acting for the protagonist will be done by Yuko Natsuyoshi. The anime is produced by Bibury Animation Studios, directed by Taku Kimura , with a script by Takashi Aoshima. The soundtrack is by Keiichi Suzuki.

Finally, the author praised the faithfulness of the adaptation and highlighted the high quality of the material already produced.
