Fans of Chihayafuru have reason to celebrate, as the competitive and exciting world of karuta is getting a sequel. A spin-off series of the Chihayafuru manga has been announced.

The story will take place after Chihaya finishes high school. Therefore, the magazine announced that it will begin publishing its sequel to Chihayafuru on December 1st in Be Love magazine. The series, titled Chihayafuru Plus Kimigatame, will focus on a rookie karuta player who aims to become one of the best in the game.

Synopsis:

Chihaya Ayase is a girl who spent much of her life simply admiring her sister's modeling career. However, this changes when she meets a boy named Arata Wataya, a talented karuta player. After they become friends, he believes Chihaya has the potential to become a great player.

Chihayafuru (ちはやふる?) is a manga written and illustrated by Yuki Suetsugu, serialized in Be Love and published by Kodansha.

Finally, the work was adapted into an anime between October 2011 and March 2012, followed by a second season released between January and June 2013. Finally, the film was released in Japanese theaters on March 19, 2016.
