Chinese production company Shanghai Minghuan Investment has officially announced that it is developing a live-action One Piece film, based on the work of Eiichiro Oda. The information was released through a statement on Business Wire, revealing details that promise to excite fans.

The company purchased the copyright directly from Oda in a deal valued at 1.6 billion yen, an investment that demonstrates the magnitude of the project. However, this agreement reinforces the commitment to creating a respectful adaptation of the original material, maintaining the essence that has won over millions of fans around the world.

The cast will feature prominent actors from Japan and China

Actor Masataka Kubota, known for playing Light Yagami in the live-action Death Note, will portray Monkey D. Luffy, the charismatic captain of the Straw Hat Pirates. In addition, Chinese actress and singer Xie Leilei, a member of the group GNZ48, will take on the role of the sweet and powerful Charlotte Purin.

There is still no information about the directing team or a release date, but the choice of the main cast is already generating great expectations among fans of the franchise.
