Chinese company Shanghai Minghuan Investment announced on Business Wire that it plans to create a live-action film based on Eiichiro Oda 's One Piece
The company purchased the copyright from the creator for 1.6 billion yen. They announced that the film will star Japanese actor Masataka Kubota (Light Yagami in Death Note: Drama's Light) in the role of Monkey D. Luffy and Chinese Xie Leilei from the group GNZ48 will play Charlotte Purin.
