To celebrate the franchise's 20th anniversary, this month, the animated adaptation produced by the Madhouse studio is being rescreened in Japan, a book compiled of illustrations was published in March and several themed events are taking place across the country. Additionally, CLAMP will release the sequel to Sakura Cardcaptor on June 3rd.
Nakayoshi magazine, published Sakura Cardcaptor from May 1996 to June 2000, revealed that the manga sold more than 12 million copies in Japan, in Brazil it was published by JBC. There are also 2 films: Cardcaptor Sakura: The Movie which premiered in 1999 and Cardcaptor Sakura: The Sealed Card in 2000.
The new manga will take place in Sakura's first year of high school, after graduating from Tomoeda Elementary School. She will have a mysterious dream and then an incident will happen.
