Newtype magazine has released its cover featuring the new Sword Art Online: Progressive – Aria of a Starless Night – Movie, which is coming next year. According to the official Twitter account , the adaptation will arrive in 2022 and revolves around the 5th floor of Aincrad in the original story.

The current film Sword Art Online: Progressive – Hoshi Naki Yoru no Aria is directed by Ayako Kawano at A-1 Pictures. Kento Toya (Sword Art Online: Alicization – War of Underworld, The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of The Commandments) is responsible for the character designs.
The film is based on the light novel Progressive by author Reki Kawahara. The novel was released in 2012 as a revised version retelling events that took place in Sword Art Online.
Finally, the story describes Kirito's journey through the floating castle of Aincrad from the beginning, floor by floor.
