My name is Rafael Alves, known as Shinzo. I created the AnimeNew website in 2009 to offer news about anime, manga, and games directly from Japan.

In a recent interview with the website License Global, the vice president of Crunchyroll commented that, although there is a considerable female fanbase in the anime community, the industry has historically neglected this demographic.

“We are focused on anime that speaks to a female audience,” Adamian commented. “I believe the female fandom has always been present in anime, but it’s growing in number, and I believe it’s a community we really want to reach. They have been underserved, and I think they will be very excited about what we have prepared.”

Adamian explained some of the ways Crunchyroll is catering to this audience.

“We have some super adorable IPs that are more geared towards a female audience or those who love the 'kawaii' style, which means 'cute' in Japanese. For that, we're focusing on series like Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun and Bananya, which is literally about a cat that lives in a banana.”

Furthermore, other priorities were announced. Among them are boosting their most recent and popular IPs such as “Solo Leveling” and “Kaiju No. 8”, a project for the tenth anniversary of “Tokyo Ghoul”, and the promotion of shonen and isekai anime. Solo Leveling stands out as an important series for Crunchyroll, which is evident among fans.

Crunchyroll demonstrated confidence in “Kaiju No. 8” by streaming the series as the first major anime on X/Twitter and by enlisting English musical artist YUNGBLUD to perform the opening theme. Furthermore, the isekai genre stands out as “huge” among viewers, being a “massive trend that we are also pursuing.”

Ultimately, Crunchyroll not only expands its user base but also creates content that satisfies female audiences, acknowledging their expectations in the world of anime.
