Anime platform Crunchyroll announced on Monday (8) a significant change in its user interaction policy. The company decided to disable the comments section on its website.
- Chained Soldier: 2nd season of the anime changes studio
- Overlord: New trailer for 'The Sacred Kingdom' movie reveals release date
Crunchyroll announced the decision through an official statement:
“At Crunchyroll, we prioritize creating a safe and respectful community environment. To maintain this standard, we are hiding all existing user-generated content, including comments and reviews, across all our platforms and experiences.”
This measure comes after a series of incidents, most recently involving the BL anime "Twilight Out of Focus" (Tasogare Out Focus). The title was the target of a 'review bomb,' a practice in which multiple profiles post negative reviews in a coordinated manner, aiming to damage the content's reputation. This behavior, unfortunately, is not new in the digital world, but its impact is significant for both creators and fans.
Crunchyroll has decided to hide comments and ratings to protect the integrity of its community and ensure that all users can enjoy its content without being exposed to toxic behavior. This is an important step in keeping the platform a positive and welcoming space.
While some users may miss the opportunity to express their opinions directly on the website, Crunchyroll continues to encourage healthy discussions on other social media platforms and dedicated forums. Finally, the company reaffirms its commitment to listening to and valuing fan feedback, always striving for the best experience for all anime lovers.
