Crunchyroll has officially spoken out after users noticed unexpected changes to the subtitles of anime from the Fall 2025 . The changes included variations in font type, size, and formatting—something that generated questions and criticism on social media.
According to the platform, the problems were caused by internal system failures , and not by changes in the subtitling process, supplier changes, or the use of artificial intelligence. The company stated the following:
“In recent days, some users have experienced delays in accessing content and issues with subtitles in certain series. This was due to internal glitches, which have now been fully resolved. Subtitles are an essential part of the Crunchyroll experience, and we take this responsibility very seriously.”
