Renowned animator Maplestar has confirmed that it is producing an anime adaptation of Dandadan, starring Momo Ayase and Okarun. The announcement came after a poll conducted in November 2024, where fans could vote for the work they most wanted to see adapted. Dandadan won, and the project went into development for 2025.

Choosing the full format

According to Maplestar, the decision to make a full version came from the “many, many requests” he received. Expectations are high, especially among followers who closely follow his work.

Maplestar's history

The artist is already known for his productions aimed at a more mature audience, having created alternative versions of popular characters such as Makima (Chainsaw Man), Yor Forger (SPY x FAMILY), and Marin Kitagawa (Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru). His ability to capture the essence and charisma of the characters has established him as one of the most talked-about names in this niche.

What to expect from the adaptation of Dandadan?

In their last animated series, Fern and Stark, Maplestar collaborated with an official animator from Frieren. However, it's still unknown whether this new project will have the same team or technical level. Despite this, the animator's success in previous works inspires confidence that the result will be well-received by fans.

So, are you excited to see Momo Ayase and Okarun in an 18+ adaptation of Dandadan by Maplestar?
