Previously, the mystery surrounding the entity generated numerous fan theories. However, episode 2 sets the record straight by revealing the cruel secret of Jiji Village—an ancient ritual that changes Jin Enjoji .
The boy who became a spirit out of pure cruelty

Decades ago, the peaceful village of Byakuja hid a terrible pact. Fearing the eruption of the local volcano, the residents began sacrificing children to the Tsuchinoko worm. One boy, trapped for months in a dark room, dreamed only of playing with other children. However, he was brutally killed in the ritual.
Despite this, his spirit returned as a yokai without regrets. Like other lost souls, he tried to interact with new families, but his frightening appearance only caused panic. Meanwhile, the adults suffered from suicidal psychic waves coming from the creature in the volcano.
The Kito family created the real monster in Dandadan
Eventually, the Kito used the confusion to kidnap more children. When the yokai tried to save a boy the same age as he was when he died, he failed miserably. This failure consumed him. Thus, the spiteful Evil Eye was born.
Now, Jin Enjoji has become the ideal vessel for him to walk the real world again. Gifted with incredible strength, the new yokai promises to be an immense challenge.
Opinion on the events : Evil Eye is a powerful metaphor for childhood abandonment and unresolved trauma. Dandadan manages to deliver horror with sensitivity—and this sets it apart from other shounen of its generation.
