Based on the manga published in Jump SQ (Shueisha), Dark Gathering follows Keitarō Gentōga, a university student with spiritual sensitivity, and the enigmatic Yayoi Hōzuki, a girl with supernatural abilities. The plot mixes horror and mystery in a narrative that has already sold over 2.5 million copies of the manga. The anime premiered its first season between July and December 2023.

In the new phase, the OLM returns to production, with Hiroshi Ikehata once again directing. The main cast is also confirmed: Yū Shinohara (Yayoi Hōzuki), Nobunaga Shimazaki (Keitarō Gentōga), Kana Hanazawa (Eiko Hōzuki) and Rina Kawaguchi (Aii Kamishiro).

According to Kondō, the Kyoto arc was one of the most intense to write: "It was so heavy that I barely remember how I managed to finish it," he joked. The director stated that this is a "true second season," made possible thanks to the support of the fans, promising "an even deeper and more visually impactful horror."

Finally, the cast will participate in Jump Festa 2026on December 21st, with news about the release.
