Who is Zohakuten?
In episode 7 of season 3 of Demon Slayer , Tanjiro fails to cut Hantengu's neck before a sudden new threat arrives. Tanjiro tries to react in time, but fails because he is confused about what this new entity is. However, he realizes that none of the Demons of Emotion are in the area as before, and through Genya it is explained that Zohakuten (which represents "Hatred") began with the Demon of Anger Sekido, who then quickly absorbed his brothers and transformed into the powerful Zohakuten.
Able to stop Tanjiro simply by patting him on the back, Zohakuten believes he is the hero in this situation, as he sees Tanjiro and the others as despicable villains for wanting to "kill" a small demon.
