With the term gaining traction in the entertainment industry, Dragon Ball is preparing to launch a new game in 2018 .
Therefore, the companies Bandai Namco and Arc System Works (responsible for Guilty Gear and BlazBlue, in addition to having worked on Extreme Butoden) are developing Dragon Ball Fighters for release on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
With a different technology, the 2.5D fighting game uses a 3-vs-3 system that incorporates fast-paced battles alongside Dragon Ball moves. The first images have already been released, featuring Goku, Vegeta, Trunks, Buu, Cell, and Frieza.
What to expect from Dragon Ball Fighters?
Tomoko Hiroki became the producer of Dragon Ball Fighters, thus choosing a graphical style that runs counter to 3D or 2D. 2.5D allows for a wider range of movement, an anime-like style of expression, and allows for rapid changes in camera angles.
Regarding the technology called pseudo-3D, we use this informal term to describe visual phenomena that appear to be three-dimensional, but for some reason are not completely so—either because they do not consist of truly three-dimensional entities, as in graphics, or because they do not allow for fully 3D movement.
Finally, information indicates that the team planned to announce the game at E3 this year, but ended up releasing it before the event.
