Recently, fans have engaged in a debate about which anime have truly good endings. This topic has generated a variety of divergent opinions, highlighting the subjective nature of what constitutes a truly satisfying ending in the world of anime.

Therefore, when analyzing what conditions an ending must have to be considered good, the participants highlighted several aspects. First, many agree that a satisfying ending must provide adequate closure to the main plot and character arcs. This implies resolving the story's main conflicts in a satisfactory manner and offering a sense of completion and finality .

Furthermore, an ending that leaves a lasting impression on viewers is usually one that is consistent with the tone and style of the anime as a whole. It's important that the ending feels organic and well-integrated into the narrative, avoiding unexpected twists or forced developments that could compromise the story's cohesion.

Another crucial aspect is the emotional satisfaction that the ending provides to the viewer. This can manifest itself in various ways, whether through emotional moments that resolve the relationships between the characters , impactful revelations that redefine the understanding of the story, or simply offering a sense of hope and optimism for the future of the protagonists.

Code Geass

It's important to keep in mind that the perception of an ending as satisfactory is inherently subjective and can vary significantly from one viewer to another. One person may consider an ending perfect, but another may not. Therefore, it is crucial to acknowledge and respect different individual opinions and experiences when discussing this topic.

  • I just rewatched Buddy Daddies and I had completely forgotten how beautiful the ending is. It has the advantage of being an original anime and only having one season, but it was great to see how everything ended and where everyone ended up.
  • Mob Psycho 100, Parasyte and Assassination Classroom.
  • Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, without a doubt.
  • I would mention Fruits Basket, Mob Psycho 100, and Fullmetal Alchemist.
  • Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood had the perfect ending and managed to tie up all the loose ends without wasting anyone's potential. And Code Geass, which needs no explanation.
  • I completely agree with Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. I've often heard people say it's too much of a 'Disney Happy Ending,' but somehow that's the point the series makes in the end. They truly deserved it. It's also the only anime that didn't leave me wanting more when it finished. Usually, my obsessions with an anime last longer than the anime itself, and then I move on to fanfiction, but that was never the case with FMAB.
  • "STEINS;GATE, I'm convinced.".
  • "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean, without a doubt.".

They added other anime to the list of good endings:

  • Samurai Champloo, to name a few.
  • The ending of Odd Taxi is still vivid in my mind. Gurren Lagann also has such a beautiful ending that it can make a grown man cry (I am that grown man)
  • I hope Odd Taxi had been a little more dramatic with the reveal of the art change. A small detail, but I would have liked the last 15 minutes to be drawn more realistically or painted with a different palette, to get a little more contrast. Great series, if that's the worst I can say about it.
  • Cowboy Bebop.
  • Mob Psycho 100.
  • Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
  • "Shinsekai Yori has a spectacular ending."
  • I'm glad to see that Shinsekai Yori hasn't been forgotten. One of the most unforgettable experiences I've ever had was watching this anime for the first time.
  • Moriarty the Patriot. Sure, the ending is quite different from the manga (which is better and still being published), but I think it's still a lot of fun.
  • Mob Psycho 100 had three incredible seasons without any drop in quality, fully telling its story.
  • K-ON! – It made me cry like a baby because of some high school girls graduating.
  • Fruits Basket – The last season wrapped everything up very well thematically.

Finally, tell us in the comments which anime you consider to have good endings.
