Fortnite players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S can now pre-download updates before the official release . This new feature, discovered by dataminers and confirmed by Epic Games, allows users to begin downloading even before the servers go offline for maintenance.

The change should reduce the waiting time to enter the game after the release of updates. Additionally, it's an advantage for those with slow internet connections, avoiding long download times.

New feature arrives with the new season

The news coincides with the launch of Fortnite Chapter 6, Season 2 , which brought several collaborations. Among the highlights is a crossover with Cowboy Bebop, a classic 1990s anime. In addition, the game also received an unusual promotional campaign, featuring a mockumentary about a rivalry between the character Big Dill and the singer T-Pain.

Another great addition was the arrival of Mortal Kombat, with Sub-Zero available in the battle pass . The new season promises constant updates, making pre-downloading even more useful for players.

How to enable pre-download on PS5 and Xbox

PS5 and Xbox Series X/S users can activate the feature by following simple steps.

On PlayStation 5:

  1. Access the Settings .

And what about players on other platforms?

Although the feature is a breakthrough for next-generation consoles, there is still no information on when or if Epic Games will extend the feature to other platforms.

Nintendo Switch players , for example, have expressed frustration with the slow download times, especially since they rely on wireless connections.

The community is still awaiting a statement from the developer regarding the expansion of the feature. Meanwhile, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S can already enjoy the new feature to ensure a smoother, lag-free gaming experience.
