The “ Sousou no Frieren manga has gone on an indefinite hiatus. However, fans are arguing about the more specific details of the manga, and something that caught their attention was an illustration of the character Fern (Sousou no Frieren) where she has a very different design than usual.

In the illustration above , which is definitely not recent, we see Fern combing Frieren's hair and making two braids, which she also wears. However, it appears that this hairstyle change somewhat confused Tsukasa Abe , the manga's illustrator, as Fern's face ended up looking “cute”.
This didn't go unnoticed by fans, who debated whether Fern de Sousou no Frieren was gaining weight over the years in the manga:
The comments about Fern being overweight didn't stop:
- “The author is going too far to provoke netizens.”
- “A fat girl with questionable morals who is always angry and trying to manipulate others, that’s what Fern is.”
- “It can’t be helped, the only people Fern had a relationship with in her life were a drunken priest and a disinterested elf.”
- “It seems Fern’s special spell is to get fat.”
- “Fern gets uglier with each passing chapter, I'm glad Stark isn't too interested in her.”
- “The personification of fujoshi, without a doubt.”
- “Don’t you think the main problem is that the nose is designed in a horrible way?”
- “She acts like a mother and now has the body of one.”
- “Another indefinite break, they should remove it from the weekly serialization once and for all. The authors are certainly not ready for work like this.”
- “There’s definitely a big difference between the manga artist and the anime artist.”
- “Does Fern now have diabetes? I hope there’s a spell for that!”
- “That’s simply because the artist is bad. Fern is officially a thin, attractive girl.”
- “Fern is the one who eats huge portions of food and is still hungry.”
- “Even if she is fat, she is not powerful, she is fast.”
