In the new season of FLCL, many years have passed since Naota and Haruhara Haruko shared their adventure together. Meanwhile, war rages between the two entities known as Medical Mechanica and Fraternity across the galaxy. Enter Hidomi, a young teenager who believes nothing surprising awaits her in life, until the day a new teacher named Haruko arrives at her school. Soon, Medical Mechanica is attacking her city, and Hidomi discovers a secret within herself that could save everyone—a secret only Haruko can unlock.
But why did Haruko return to Earth? What happened to the Rickenbacker 4001 she left with Naota? And where did the humanoid robot 'Canti' go?
In August 2015, Production IG acquired the original rights to FLCL (Furi Kuri), and soon after, it was marketed and popularized by Gainax.
Originally released as an OVA with six DVDs in 2000. The story was also published as a two-volume manga by artist Hajime Ueda, and as a three-volume novel by Yoji Enokido, who later wrote the script for the anime.
