ProducerMasao Maruyamaannounced at the Otakon panel that the Garo: Honoo no Kokuin will premiere on Japanese TV this October. Unlike the first season of the anime, this series will be a jidaigeki (period drama) set in the Heian period. This new season will feature a female protagonist.
Furthermore, Maruyama also confirmed that the next Garo animated film will have a new story.
The Garo Project began in 2005, with the first series airing in 2006, consisting of 25 episodes. Since then, it has inspired several series, films, and specials. The most recent live-action drama, Garo -Gold Storm- Shō, premiered with a film in March, followed by a television series in April.
