The Operation Downpour Simulation event is available in Genshin Impact from May 19th to June 3rd, 2025. Set in the Fontaine region, the event simulates a board game war and requires strategic decisions to win battles. The mechanics require the player to defeat enemies and opposing structures, carefully choosing which units to use in each scenario.

In total, there are 11 progressive challenges, with the first four unlocked at the start. To participate, it is necessary to complete a short mission with the same name as the event, which introduces its mechanics. In each phase, the player can position up to five units, between melee and ranged attack, adjusting to the needs of the battlefield.

Initial challenges require a simple and quick strategy

In the first challenge, called Frontline Formation, the combat is against Cryo Whopperflowers. Additionally, the player must position two groups of Hilichurl Fighters and two groups of Electro Samachurls, distributing them on both sides of the field. This basic formation ensures the quick elimination of enemies, without requiring swaps or repositioning.

Next, in the second stage, Thrust and Volley Combined, resistance increases. The opponents are two Hydro Slimes and two Treasure Hoarder Pyro Potioneers. To overcome them, the recommended strategy involves using two Ruin Guards to clear a path and then releasing the Hilichurl Grenadiers. In this way, the enemies' advance is efficiently contained.

Next, the third challenge, Siege Strategies, presents even tougher enemies, such as Frostarm Lawachurls and more Pyro Potioneers. Therefore, the recommendation is to position three Cryo Specters in the lower base, followed by two Electro Lawachurls. After the first combat is won, the Ruin Guards should be released to complete the offensive.

Subsequent challenges require greater coordination between units

In Studies in Momentum, the main enemy is Mek: Ousia, accompanied by Cryo Whopperflowers. The ideal formation starts with two Eroding Avatars of Lava and a group of Electro Cicins at the base. After defeating the first Whopperflower, two groups of Hilichurl Fighters enter the scene. The second group of Electro Cicins should be inserted last, completing the offensive.

Each phase demands attention to the behavior of the units, which follow distinct attack patterns. Melee characters advance in a straight line and destroy obstacles along the way. However, ranged characters remain stationary until they eliminate the target, requiring more calculated positioning.

Like in a strategy board game, every decision influences the outcome of the match. The combination of brute force and reach defines success in confrontations. The time-limited event offers a dynamic experience for players seeking challenges beyond traditional game combat.

The event offers a different approach and reinforces variety in the game

The Operation Downpour Simulation proposal departs from the conventional battles of Genshin Impact. By adopting a wargame structure (board game war simulation), the event highlights the importance of tactical reasoning and strategy planning. Each phase invites the player to think before acting, offering different ways to achieve victory.

Besides being fun, the event also provides learning opportunities. Less experienced players have the chance to better understand the roles of attack and defense. For veterans, the challenge lies in finding the most effective formations and minimizing response time.

Scheduled to end on June 3rd, the event is part of the content of update 5.6. Until then, participants can explore all available challenges, accumulating rewards and improving their strategic vision within the universe of Teyvat.
