The official website for the "Ghost in the Shell" franchise released the first teaser for the new animated film inspired by the manga by author Masamune Shirow. The official website also revealed a promotional image for the film. The film premieres this summer in Japan.

In the video the text says: “The legendary science fiction work that caused a revolution around the world/ An original work by Masamune Shirow/ A work in celebration of 25 years/ The awakened ghosts whisper/ Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie/ Premieres in early summer [our winter] 2015”.

Scarlett Johansson has been confirmed as the lead in the Hollywood version of Ghost In The Shell.

Kazuchika Kise (Ghost in the Shell Arise) will be the film's chief animation director.
