Negotiations are still ongoing regarding who will play Motoko Kusanagi in the legendary anime Ghost in the Shell. This time, sources come from the Deadline , where the Hollywood version of the anime/manga Ghost in the Shell – or Ghost of the Future in Brazil – written by screenwriter Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island), Dreamworks now wants Scarlett Johansson (Lucy) to take on the role of the protagonist Major.

The plot is expected to follow the anime's storyline, in which Major Motoko Kusanagi, a cybernetic police officer, fights to bring justice to the streets of her Japanese megacity in a dystopian future. Former Marvel executive Avi Arad (Spider-Man) is one of the film's producers.
