Gintama manga gets new anime!

In the brand new issue of Weekly Shonen Jump , it was announced that Gintama manga work by author Hideaki Sorachi will get a new anime soon to be shown on Japan's classic TV Tokyo channel. The magazine also teased what we call the climax of Gintama's final story arc. In future editions of Shonen Jump, broadcast times and other details such as release date will be announced, and perhaps an official trailer will arrive in parallel with the article.

The previous edition of Jump hinted that “ surprising news ” would arrive for the franchise in the next edition, that is, the one you just read.

Author Hideaki Sorachi began publishing in 2004 and continues to be classified among the manga that have been sold in Japan to this day. It is currently licensed by Viz Media and has published the first 23 volumes in English. Shueisha published the 65th volume of the manga in Japan in August, where its final arc began in July.

The manga work as a whole inspired an anime that premiered in 2006 and continued (with several prolonged hiatuses) until 2013. The most recent Gintama anime premiered in April 2015, and had its ending published on TV in March.

Gintama is currently streaming on Crunchyroll !

The paid streaming channel Crunchyroll currently broadcasts the series, as it aired in Japan. In addition to the TV series, the manga also inspired two animated films, including Gekijōban Gintama Kanketsu-hen: Yorozuya yo Eien Nare which premiered in 2013, and several OVAs released at an anime event as well as light novels and games were also made.

Remembering that in the middle of this year, issue 31 of Jump announced that Gintama will have a live-action film in 2017 made by Warner Bros. Pictures from Japan, starring Shun Oguri as Gintoki Sakata and written and directed by Yuichi Fukuda.
